Planetary eCVTs are awesome, it's actually a pretty simple differential based transmission. But I think unbelting the engine from every powered subsystem and have them be discreet electronic was enough. Then it's reasonable that the power drain could be covered by regenerative braking capacitance, even hook a toaster up to it so the brake alternator can always assist your real brakes when the much smaller battery is full.

You have done an exceptional job with this video - amazing really. I live in AZ and I have a Model 3, I would like to understand how the Tesla heat pump cools the battery and interior when it is a 115 degrees F in the shade. It can use the radiator because the radiator will be at the ambient air temperature. It doesn't make sense to me that you can get "cool" air from 115 degree F exterior air. But my Model 3 does do a very good job cooling the interior of the car, and so I would assume that it also does a good job cooling the batteries (same coolant system cools both).

Thanks for the information! I did have a question. I thought the Bolt was supposed to be able to heat and cool the battery even when not plugged in? Is that true? I've left my bolt in the heat and cold unplugged and didnt notice any battery conditioning usage on my energy readout so i was a little confused by this. When i plug the bolt in during the winter it sucks down so much power, and i couldnt tell, is that to keep the battery at proper operating temperature to get it read to be driven immediately, or was that actually all completely necessary Heating for battery life? I would rather it not waste so much energy over cold winter nights because im not going to hop in it at 4am and got for a ride.

2015 Honda Civic with a CVT being weird. I feel sure it went well over 100k miles without a fluid change. So I'm aware that's the cause, but I can't work out what's happening. I did a fluid flush once I got my hands on it. When the fluid is cool it takes off fine, but once it's warm, it slips bad starting off through 1st. If you move the shifter down to low to start off, it does just fine cold or warm. Does anyone have any help to offer my puzzled brain? Thank you 🙏

I don't see an issue for any use that says atleast meets the requirements. Some manufacture specifications will not get approved even if it can pass any real testing requirements even if it is superior to the manufacturer spec. For the life of me i can't remember which company it was but it will not license if a synthetic base stock is used even if it works wonderfully. I see it more as a way for these companies to decrease costs by not having to pay licensing and passing the cost savings to us. I can see Maxlife using a high quality add pack and base stock. Even hitech is saying it works in multiple applications. I would definately think with something like the oreilly one as it seems to barely meet specifications maybe should spend a little more and get something higher quality.

It doesn’t have to be complicated. I changed my transmission oil every 50k miles using WS Toyota transmission oil from dealer. I check for any leaks, then I drained the entire pan and measure the old oil in a separate container and then fill the new container with exact amount as the old fluid. That’s it. As long as there is no leak you know the level is good because it’s an enclosed system
